2019

December Coffee Run

The December Coffee run was to the Garage25 Cafe and Tony Longhurst Museum at Coomera Boatworks.

November Mid Week run

The November Mid Week run was from Nerang to Beaudesert, then southwest along Lions Road (built by Lions clubs to connect 2 roads, one on each side of border) into NSW and to Kyogle for lunch.  Along the way, we stopped at a lookout to view the Border (railway) Loop.  Due to bushfires in northern NSW, no trains  were running.

Annual Display & Concours

This years Annual Display and Councours was held at Burleigh Heads, on Sunday morning  29 September 2019.  45 MGs ranging from  a 1938 SA to modern MGs. 

Coffee Run to Eagle Heights Mountain Resort – Saturday 19 October

Although the morning was not the best for open MG motoring, 37 members gathered on the outdoor terrace overlooking the distant Gold Coast, to enjoy coffee and cakes.

A special welcome was made to Roger Parkington who attended his first Club run, although he has been a member since 2012. 

Long Week-end run to Gympie

19 Members in their MGs braved the long weekend traffic to drive from the Gold Coast and Brisbane to Eudlo, on the Sunshine coast, before travelling in convoy to Gympie.  On Sunday we travelled on the Mary River Red Rattler 1st Anniversary run to Amamoor and return.  Monday was a visit to a local MG enthusiast for morning tea, then to Cooloola Berry Farm for lunch.

Mid Week run – Wed. 12 October – Fish & Chips beside Tweed River

25 Members and a friend in 12 MGs  and a couple of non MGs participated in this Mid Week run from Coomera via the hinterland to Numinbah Valley and Bochow Park then up and over the Border Range to Murwillumbah and Terranora Creek for lunch.  It was good to Sam and her grandmother Marie Darke at our morning tea stop at Bochow Park.

2019 National Pre War MG Rally – Display

The National Pre War MG Rally display was held in Maclean, NSW, on Saturday morning 7 September 2019.  MGs ranged from 1930 F1 and M types to 1939 TA.

I apologise for the quality of the photos, but they were taken during the early morning set up. 

August Mid Week run

42 Members and a friend in 21 MGs  and 3 non MGs participated in this short Mid Week run from Nerang, via Regional Park, Mudgeeraba (photos) to Hinze Dam cafe, where the dam manager and member Paul Rogers came and said hello.

August Morning Coffee run

40 Members in 18 MGs  and 4 non MGs converged on the Calypso Bay Residents Recreation Club at Jacobs Well for the July Morning Coffee run to enjoy coffee, tea, and /or hot chocolate. A pity the service was poor.

Christmas in July Mid overnight run

38 members in 17 MGs and 3 other cars over-nighted in Toowoomba for the 10th annual ‘Christmas in July’ run.  Thanks goes to the Lutterborrows for organising all of these mid week runs.  Some other members participated in the run up to morning tea at Beaudesert, whilst your’s truely joined up in Toowoomba.  Some members didn’t participate in the run back to the Gold Coast staying in Toowoomba to visit relatives or to do sight seeing.

June Morning Coffee run

Members in 15 MGs converged on the Nook and Kranny Cafe at Lower Beechmont for the June Morning Coffee run to enjoy coffee, tea, hot chocolate and/or brunch. 

April Morning Coffee run

29 members in 15 MGs and 3 other cars converged on the View Cafe at Hinze Dam for the April Morning Coffee run to enjoy fine coffee and morning tea whilst overlooking the Hinze Dam.

April Mid week run

The April Mid Week run went from Currumbin, up the Currumbin Valley and across into NSW, through Murwillumbah, Uki to Crams Farm for morning tea, then back to the coast and through Pottsville and along Reserve Creek Road (part dirt) before arriving beside Tweed River for pre-ordered seafood or fish & chip lunch. 

Tamborine Mtn Show Display and March Canungra Morning Coffee

Only 4 MGs attended the Tamborine Mountain Show – Show and Shine Display on a damp Saturday morning, whilst 22 MGs and 45 people congregated at Canungra on Monday 25th for tea, coffee or hot chocolate and a natter. (last photo only)

March visit to Members Neil and Mary Ann Anderson’s garage

After meeting at the club rooms, 50 plus members (a Sunday run record) traveled through the lower hinterland, ending up at Neil and Mary-Anne’s place to view their 8 immaculate MGs (F1, TC, TF, MGAs, MGBs and MG Rover) and enjoy a very pleasant chat and morning tea. 

February mid-week run

A pleasant run up to Springbrook and back to Nerang for a Club lunch.  The day was very hot, hence a lot of members drove their air-conditioned modern cars, but still a number of MGs were present.  The morning tea among the trees, beside the creek and adjacent to the look out was very enjoyable.
